The three types of teleprompter apps

These listen to your voice and match it to the script. The AI runs on their servers — your audio is streamed over the internet. They charge monthly because the cloud costs money.
Best for: Teams who need collaboration features and don't mind subscriptions.
3. Offline voice-matching apps (free or one-time)
These bundle the AI engine directly in the app. Your voice is processed locally — nothing is sent anywhere. No internet needed, no subscription, no privacy risk.
Best for: Solo creators, privacy-conscious users, anyone who records offline or on location.
The real cost of "free"
Many "free" teleprompter apps are ad-supported or severely limited. Some show ads between takes. Others watermark the display. The ones that actually work well usually lock voice-matching behind a subscription paywall.
